Karsten Lenjoint Expecting A War With Gambatesa At Fight UK 6

By Harry Williams

On February 25th at Fight UK 6, Karsten 'The Archer' Lenjoint (7-1) takes on Dino Gambatesa (7-6) in what has the potential to be an exciting contest.

"Training is going good," stated Lenjoint positively. "I've got a gameplan; win! I'm going to go in the cage and punch him in the face. I'm sure his gameplan is pretty much the same. I'm just hoping I can punch him in the face more!"

Making a surprise drop to Bantamweight, Lenjoint discusses his reasons for doing so. He stated,

"I guess it was TUF. The American guys on there were massive, most of the Bantamweights walked round the same weight as me so thought I'd give it a go and see what happens.

"I've never dieted or cut a lot of weight to make Featherweight, so now I'm just doing the same as every other Pro fighter out there.

"I feel I'll be better at this weight with my strength. I have a bully-style to my fighting and being at the top end of the weight class will help my style."

Lenjoint isn't underestimating Dino, although he thinks he will be the one with his hand raised come 25th February.

"Well he's good looking, I guess," laughed Lenjoint. "Nice personality, athletic, good beard also doesn't have bad tattoos.

"He's very tough and very well-rounded. As I said before, he’s a grappler that can strike and wrestle which makes him dangerous in all areas. I just think I'm a little more dangerous in all them areas."

Approaching this contest, the latest addition to the Bantamweight division expects the best of Dino Gambatesa to show up.

"I expect a war," conversed Lenjoint. What else should I expect going into a Pro MMA fight against the number 8 ranked guy in the UK?"

Looking back on his time on The Ultimate Fighter, he explains what he gained from his time on the show. He tells,

"Well, I gained a free UFC kitbag and some nice gear. As for the show, the whole thing from tryouts to medicals and then the fight itself was a great experience. I learned a lot about how important it is having people you trust in your corner and to be mentally strong and not let the occasion get to me before the fight."

As we're only in February, Karsten aims to make a big impact on the UK MMA scene this year and will overcome any obstacles in his way.

"A year is a long time," explains Karsten. "Let's take one fight at a time though I have two goals; get into the UK Bantamweight Top 10 and finish the year with a positive record. I'm not one of these guys that thinks they're invincible for starters; I've already lost two fights. I just want to win more than I lose!"

To round off this interview, Lenjoint would like to thank people for helping him along the way.

"I'd like to add if anyone out there would like to sponsor me to train in the States, please get in touch. Thank you's to the guys at Liberty Gym for helping with my training such as Kags, Paul, Ramore, Leon, Patrick. Especially Carl 'Bomber' Booth and James 'Money' Till that have held pads for me most mornings during this camp.

"Also, my Sponsors www.proteinshack.co.uk, BodyCraft Tattoo studios, Nottingham, Liberty Gym and MMA Pundit."
