Introducing... Jussier Da Silva

By Dean Parr

If Jussier Da Silva isn't a name you're currently familiar with, that will likely soon change. The 13-1 Brazilian is ranked as the world's second best flyweight on trusted MMA portal Sherdog.com, and with the UFC's introduction of a new 125-pounds roster, his addition wouldn't be a surprise.

'Formiga' holds six submission wins and seven decisions on his résumé, with his only loss being a unanimous decision to the #1 rated flyweight in the world, Ian McCall. For British fans, Da Silva revealed a little about himself.

"I'm Evangelical, really like to play the guitar and love my family and friends," told Jussier.

To date, the 27 year old is pleased with how his career has played out, and is planning on making constant improvements to his game. He said,

"I'm happy with how things are. I'm working hard, achieving my goals and winning, which is important. My ambition is to fight on the greatest and most important MMA event in the world, and I know that's where I belong."

This is a sentiment shared by many analysts and supporters, especially given the fact Da Silva is hot off the back of four back-to-back victories.

"I'm certainly more than ready," replied Jussier, upon being asked if he felt he adequately prepared to make the jump to the UFC. "I train with the best so I can make it happen. I want to be there and show what I can do."

As a parting few words to the British fans reading, the flyweight had some advice to give.

"Everyone has a dream. Never give up on it because anything is possible in our lives. Much love to you all!"
