Fraser Opie: "2012, I Promise Big Things"

By Dean Parr

2012 looks set to be a busy year for Milton Keynes 205-pounder Fraser Opie (8-5), who will kick off the year with two hard scraps. 'The Omen' is excited about these contests, and is predicting some good fights for the fans.

"I'm really looking forward to these fights; firstly to defend and keep my title at Fight UK; then on BAMMA on front of a huge crowd doing what I love."

The first of these bouts will take place on February 25th, and will see Fraser attempt to go 1-1 against Dan Edwards, which is something he's convinced he can do. He said,

"Dan beat me when I was starting out and he was experienced. I'm taking nothing away from the guy; he beat me fair and square, but he is facing something totally different now."

"Avenging my loss will be great, and I think it's going to be quick if I'm honest; round one KO or TKO."

Opie will then battle it out with North-East fighter Anth Taylor on BAMMA 9, and is similarly confident ahead of this outing.

"Anth looks like a really strong guy and is game as fuck which I like; it's going to be one to remember!

"Beating him would place me in the top four in the UK. He beat someone who has beaten me, so I'm pretty happy all round with this fight."

Two solid-level fights within such a short space of time is a big ask, but Fraser feels he's capable of pulling it off.

"My body will need some 'TLC' afterwards, that's for sure; ladies if you're reading this," hinted Opie jokingly, before stating, "I might have one more fight before May and then rest for a little while. I teach and manage Immortal MMA, so I never have complete rest, but it's good to tick over and keep me occupied."

To conclude the interview, the Light Heavyweight had some thanks to make.

"Thank you to all that support me and my sponsors. 2012, I promise big things. Also, thanks to my trainers and training partners down at Immortal MMA.

More information on Opie's upcoming bouts can be found on the official websites of Fight UK and BAMMA.
